Pastor’s Update
Dear friend of Pine Mountain Christian Community Church,
This Sunday, March 1st, we will return to “The Pathway to a Blessed Life” as we continue our study of Matthew 5. First, Jesus said, “Blessed are those who are poor in Spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.” We saw that the poor in Spirit are those who see their need for God. In other words, “Blessed are those who fully rely on God”. We must see our need for God before we will come to God. Jesus then gives us the next step: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” So, what are we supposed to mourn about? We should mourn about the evil in the world and the sin in our own hearts. It is not until we mourn and repent of the sin in our hearts that we experience the forgiveness and comfort of God. Christ paid the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross. To those who receive it, there is God’s complete forgiveness and a present comfort that will carry us through eternity.
